Teflon (TFE) and PVDF are both on allocation.
TFE sheet products, PTFE (TFE) as well as Kynar-PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar which is mined in Mongolia and China. The world need for this mineral has risen significantly, and the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high temperature resistance, excellent chemical resistance and extremely low co-efficient of friction (slick) and is utilized throughout dozens of purposes from non-stick fry pans to ptfe tape for home use. This mineral is a critical raw materials within the manufacturing of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and a lot of refrigerants. This rise in demand combined with shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double during the last year), shortages, and we expect both these factors to keep at it in the near future.
