PTFE (TFE) and Kynar - PVDF both are experiencing long lead times.
Teflon product PTFE (TFE) along with PVDF manufacturing requires a mineral called Fluorspar that's mined in Mongolia and China. The worldwide interest in this mineral has risen significantly, and the supply has tightened. PTFE materials have high heat resistance, excellent chemical resistance and extremely low co-efficient of friction (slippery) and is utilized within a bunch of applications from non-stick fry pots and pans to ptfe tape for personal use. This specific mineral is actually the important raw materials in the production of fluoropolymers, fluorolubricants and many refrigerants. This increasing amount of demand coupled with shortage of raw materials has caused a dramatic price increase (almost double over the past year), shortages, and we expect these two factors to keep at it in the near future.
